HAPPY FATHER”S DAY!! It has been a while since I have added to the blog simply because there have been very few things popping up. So far it is just getting things boxed up and trying to sort through what gets shipped, what gets stored, what gets labeled to maybe be shipped later… what gets donated, what gets given away to friends/family… you get the gist. Our house is starting to look bare, a lot of art and pictures are off the walls and packed away safely. No pics of the chaos will be forthcoming! 🙂 The knick knacks are almost ALL packed away. I have started attacking the kitchen… ahhh my small obsession with dishes is really a pain in the ass when it comes time to pack!
We have been on a Facetime tour of one of the school apartments, but we have yet to see the principal’s house. I’m honestly not sure at this point if we will have the house or the apartment. For the sake of no neighbors we are hoping for the house! The house is probably 8 years old and the apartment is only 5, based on what we saw, it is decent size… pretty basic finishes. I know that once we settle in I will have the strong desire to personalize it! But I also doubt that I will have the time during the first year! In addition to adjusting to and learning the new job and finding our place in our new community I will need to take a couple of courses on Alaskan Native studies.
We plan to start shipping stuff this coming week, so it will be insane around here and we will start putting stuff into climate controlled storage during the first of July. Until then, the chaos around here will just be something we live with as I focus on trying to figure out which is the most economical way to get what we need up there, Amazon or USPS… lol. I figure I’m going to be packing, weighing, and comparison pricing. Who knows how to have a good time??
Everything else aside, all the logistic stuff, planning etc… it is coming to a head!! We leave in less than 30 days and Marty has fewer than 14 work days before his last day!
Adventure awaits!
